Day 1: God is Building His Church
Day 1: God is Building His Church
"And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." - Matthew 16:18 ESV
Jesus’ words in Matthew 16:18 reveal a powerful truth: He is building His Church. This statement is a declaration of both intention and authority. Jesus, the cornerstone, assures us that no force, not even the gates of hell, can stand against His Church. This gives us great confidence and hope, knowing that the growth, strength, and future of the Church are in His hands.
As believers, we are called to be a part of this divine construction project. Jesus invites us to partner with Him in building His Church. But how do we do this? We do this by going and making disciples. This is our mission and command by Jesus. The Church is not just a building - although that’s an important tool —it is a living, breathing community of people who follow Jesus. When we engage in this community through serving, giving, praying, and making disciples we are actively participating in the work of building the Church.
However, building His Church requires more than just our involvement; it requires a heart aligned with God’s purposes. We must ask ourselves: Are we contributing to the unity and growth of the Church? Are we using our gifts and resources to strengthen the body of Christ? Are we supporting our leaders and encouraging fellow believers?
When we commit to these actions, we align ourselves with Jesus’ mission, joining Him in building a Church that the world cannot overcome.

Prayer Focus:
Today, pray and ask God to continue building His Church right in your neighborhood. Ask Him to provide the necessary resources, wisdom, and guidance so The Grove can fulfill God’s purposes. Pray that He would show you how you can actively contribute to His work.
Reflection Question:
How can you join Jesus in building His Church? Consider the unique gifts and opportunities God has given you. As The Grove begins phase 2 of it’s building - be praying as to what God would have you give to support and strengthen this initiative?
