Perfect Peace in Trust

"You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you."
Isaiah 26:3
Isaiah 26:3
We live in a broken world. Whenever we forget, we can simply turn on the news to find out about today’s new version of chaos. Worldly chaos is nothing new, and Jesus acknowledged it with his disciples. At the end of John 16, Jesus said, “In this world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Whenever the world around us seems in limbo, we can rely on God’s steadfast love. His love is unchanging and therefore, reliable. We can put our trust in that. But how do we fully set our minds on Him in the midst of it?
In 2 Corinthians 10:3 and 5, the Apostle Paul says, “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.… We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” When those worldly thoughts creep into your mind, remember Paul’s words here. Take those thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ. This is how you can have your mind fixed on God, bringing perfect peace to your soul.
What thoughts do you need to take captive and make obedient to Christ today?

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the peace that You provide. Fill my heart and my mind with Your Word in times of uncertainty and allow me to discern what is truly of You. I put my trust in You, Father, and pray for Your peace to reign in me today. Allow whoever I encounter today to see You living through me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
