Be Still and Know

"Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"
Psalm 46:10
In our busy and fast-paced lives, the idea of being still often feels unrealistic. We move quickly from one responsibility to the next, filling our days with to-do lists, plans, and distractions. Our tendency is to control situations and fix things on our own, relying on our strength and understanding. Psalm 46:10 calls us to stop, be still, and trust the Lord. This verse is not merely a call to physical stillness, but an invitation to surrender our hearts fully to God.

Being still is about trusting God. It is choosing to pause long enough to remember who God is and who we are not. God is sovereign, faithful, and present. He is not shaken by the chaos that overwhelms us. When we quiet our hearts before Him, we create space to recognize His power, authority, and nearness in our lives.

To let go is to trust the Lord in every circumstance. It means surrendering our need for control and believing that God is truly in charge. He has a plan, understands our struggles, and knows what we are walking through. Nothing we face is beyond His capability. When we let go of our worries and rest in His plan, we experience peace. Not because everything is resolved, but because we have faith and trust in the One who holds it all.

Let us choose to be still today by reminding ourselves of this truth: God is with us, God is in control, and we can rest safely in Him.
Prayer: Practice stillness to deepen trust in God's sovereignty.

Lord, you are sovereign. Thank you for always having a plan and for working even when we don’t see how you are moving.  Lord help us to be more still, to trust you in every circumstance. Deepen my trust in your plan.  You are in control of my life.  Give me peace today as I let go of my control and surrender to your will. Amen.
