God's Faithfulness in Weakness

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'"
2 Corinthians 12:9
2 Corinthians 12:9
In 2 Corinthians, Paul shows us an honest picture of faith. He knew what it was like to struggle. He had endured persecution, hardship, rejection, and suffering. He speaks openly about a “thorn in the flesh.” Something painful and persistent that he could not fix on his own. Paul pleaded with the Lord to remove it. Not once. Not twice. But three times. He did what many of us do: he prayed earnestly for God to change his situation.
But instead of taking the thorn away, God gave Paul something even better, a promise. The Lord said, “My grace is sufficient for you.” God didn’t promise to make Paul stronger or to instantly solve the problem. He promised that His grace would be enough and that His power would be revealed through Paul’s weakness.
This truth challenges the way we think. We tend to view weakness as something to hide or overcome as quickly as possible. We don’t like feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or exhausted. We assume that being strong means being self-sufficient. God works differently. God doesn’t ask us to pretend we have it all together. He invites us to come honestly to Him and to trust Him more.
When we trust God’s grace in our weakness, we discover that His strength carries us. Our weakness becomes a place where His power shines, our dependence deepens, and our faith grows. In those moments, we learn that His grace truly is sufficient, and it always will be.

Prayer: Trust God's grace in your weaknesses.
God, thank you for your grace. Your word says your grace is sufficient. Thank you for this amazing gift of grace, something that you so freely gave that we didn’t even come close to deserving. Lord, I confess that I try to hide my weaknesses. Help me to trust you more in my weaknesses. Amen.
