IDOP for the Persecuted Church
International Day of Prayer for
the Persecuted Church
by Steve
Today, churches across the world are joining together to pray for persecuted Christians. Living where we do, it is easy to forget about or not realize the magnitude of fellow believers who face persecution. 360 million Christians live in places where they may experience high levels of persecution and discrimination for their faith. That is 1 in 7 Christians, worldwide.*
These past few months, we have been praying for our global partners, Paul and Silas, and their network of churches in Sudan. Just a short time ago their church was raided and some young men were arrested and beaten in attempts to make them renounce Christianity and return to Islam. This particular set of circumstances had a happy ending with everyone released and emboldened in their faith in Jesus. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated event. According to Open Doors, an organization focusing on advocating for the persecuted church, Sudan is ranked 13th on a list of the top 50 countries where it is most difficult to follow Jesus due to persecution.

Together, let's pray for our partners in Sudan who are facing persecution for their decision to follow Jesus.
- Pray that they feel the Lord's comfort in the midst of suffering and loss. Help us to continually remind them that they are not alone.
- We pray they are emboldened to continue to share the gospel with their friends, families, and communities. Help us to not take our freedom for granted and be encouraged to share the gospel with those around us as well.
- We pray that those who are persecuting them will come to know Jesus as their Savior.
- And we pray for access to the Word - that these believers will have access to Bibles to grow in their understanding of the truth.
From now through Christmas we have an opportunity to help meet this prayer request for Bibles. For just $20, you can give the gift of God’s Word. Together we can equip these churches with the Bibles they need to spread the truth.
