The Support We Received

The Support We Received

by Steve
A few months back we asked for some help to provide mosquito nets and plastic tarps (sheets) for our global partners in Sudan. They had experienced severe flooding which caused shelters to collapse and mosquitos, that carry malaria, to swarm. Below are stories from two families who received some support.
This is Sarah. She has been displaced by unrest in her country and now lives in Abushoq IDP (Internally Displaced Person) Camp. Sarah is just one of many who benefited from the support of mosquito nets and plastic sheets following the severe flooding in the Camp.

“It was a very difficult time for us all, especially for those who accepted Jesus Christ as Our Lord and Savior. During the heavy rain that broke all our houses, people who are not Christian found ways to support each other, but they would not support us. We didn’t have anyone to help us.

The heavy rain and water were everywhere. Our home was completely wet, and mosquitos were too much. The house was not secure to us and to our children. We stopped to pray and ask Jesus to help us. Then He answered our prayer when we received our mosquito nets and plastic sheets from Pastor Adam. He told us that some brothers from the US supported Christians in Sudan.

The mosquito net and plastic sheet helped me to cover my home and protect my children from rainwater pouring in and from the mosquitos.

I am so grateful and appreciate you so much for your support. We also are praying for you. I am also encouraging you to continue standing beside us, we need your help.

Thank you.

I (Paul*) visited Reesa* at her home in the Zamzam IDP (Internally Displaced Person) Camp. I found her reading her Bible. She was very happy that I visited her. Reesa was one of the many who received a mosquito net and plastic sheet. I asked her how these helped her after the heavy rains.

She said, “It is very difficult to describe my situation during that time. Our houses all collapsed. Heavy rain came day and night. We Christians were discriminated against by our community. They don’t like us, and we feel that they are hoping that as followers of Christ we would just all die. Muslim leaders don’t want us to associate with others in the community because we share our faith and people leave Islam and become Christian. We didn’t know what to do. We would gather our children around us and cover them until the rain stopped. Our lives were so miserable.

Then Pastor Paul sent to us the plastic sheets and mosquito nets. That was a good day. We Christians all received support. We distributed the sheets and nets secretly so that those who opposed us would not bring conflict with us.  We were so grateful for all those standing with us in that difficult time.”

I (Paul) told her that the support has come from our Christian brothers and sisters in America. She said, “Tell our brothers and sisters from America that we are so appreciative of them standing with us in such a difficult time like that. Please, we want them to continue standing with us. And we are also praying for them that our Lord Jesus will bless them. Thank you so much!”

We are partnering once again with our global partners Paul and Silas in Sudan to supply their growing network of churches with Bibles.

These Muslim background believers are desperate for God's Word but the church often does not have enough Bibles for everyone to have their own copy.

We are just shy of 50% of the way to our goal this year of 500 Bibles. Together we can supply them with enough Bibles to always have one to share with every new disciple. You can gift a physical Bible for $20 or a digital Bible on SD card for $10.

Click the button below and then "Register." Select the type and quantity of Bibles you would like to give.
